Voting is now open – Group B

Posted on July 5, 2010 | Good Naija Girl | 17 Comments

Voting is now open! Please note the following as you vote for your favourite bloggers in each category:

  1. You do not have to vote in each category listed.
  2. You must click Vote after each group of nominees before that vote is registered.
  3. Votes are tracked so multiple entries are not counted.
  4. If any of the nominees’ names look strange, you can get a link to their blog here.

You can begin voting below. Thank you for your participation in the 2010 Nigerian Blog Awards.

Voting is open for a week, until 11:59pm EST on July 11, 2010. Winners will be announced as soon as possible on July 12, 2010.

Don’t forget that links to the blogs of the nominees can be found here!

Thank you for participating in the final element of the 2010 Nigerian Blog Awards!

I find it odd that out of this veeery long list of Nigerian blogs, the same handful of blogs are nominated for every single category and most of these same blogs were nominated for Group A too.

Obviously, those doing the nominations are nominating their favourite blogs and not reading widely enough through the many blogs so as to be able to make an informed choice.

Also, are there any checks against individuals who vote for a particular blog several times in the same category?

No, of course I’m not moaning because I didn’t get nominated! Why would I be angry about that? Lol.

@Anengiyefa methinks people truly don’t understand how these awards work based on some of the comments that I see on this site.

It is not up to the voters to scroll through the loong list on the right to select blogs for each category. It is up to the bloggers to let their readers know that the awards are here and they would like their blog nominated. IF a blogger doesn’t let readers know that the nominations are open and they would like to win, then how will the voters know to nominate or vote?

It is what the organizers have said from the beginning. If people want to be nominated/win, they need to LET THEIR READERS KNOW to vote/nominate them. Do people really think that everybody has time to check out every single blog listed here? Readers have things to do.

Just some advice for people who are reading this and getting “miffed” that certain blogs were not nominated/voted for. Ask and ye shall receive (maybe).

P.S: the “ask and ye shall receive” rule does not apply to certain blogs that are already extremely popular. For example, people like Myne Whitman, & Verastic, already have an established, devoted, (and relatively large) fan base so these bloggers may not need to “ask” for nominees or votes (even though they do anyway). For any other blogger who knows their fan base is not as large, you need to campaign to get a nomination/win!

@EDJ, well, maybe to some people this Nigerian Blog Awards thing is not such a big deal..

@Anon, I COMPLETELY understand if some people don’t think its a big deal. I am not talking to those people.

I am talking to the people who act like it isn’t a big deal to them (and say nothing) then get annoyed when a certain blog (usually theirs) doesn’t get nominated.

I want to win one of these awards. I make no bones about it and I ask people to nominate/vote. I am not “fronting” for anyone.

By the way, did you vote for me? Lol.

@EDJ, No, I will definitely not be voting for you!

Btw, I nominated Anengiyefa. So you see, not everyone who is nominated gets picked. And I know Anengiyefa, and I know he really doesn’t give a s**t about these awards, regardless of what you might think!

Funny how the person who is campaigning for Anengiyfa knows exactly how Anengiyfa feels. It’s no coincidence that said person is “Anonymous” **coughs**

Ehm brother/sister Anonymous/Anengiyfa, I’m already seeing the futility in responding to your comment, but I will do so all the same. When people nominate blogs, the organizers don’t put up ALL the blogs that were nominated. They put up the five blogs that have the highest votes. Therefore, if you (oh, sorry, your friend, Anengiyefa) did not get to the voting part, that’s because you/he/she got “out-nominated.”

And before you ask, in cases where there are less than five blogs in a category, that’s because only that number of blogs was nominated.

P.S. I have read widely enough, and I have now made an informed choice to vote for EDJ.

P.P.S. Of course people vote for their “favorite blogs!” That’s the whole point.

P.P.P.S. Nigerian Blog Awards IS a big deal to me, and I AM campaigning for votes.

P.P.P.P.S. Yes, I’m talking a lot, but come on! People need to stop misyarning and start appreciating the hard work of these organizers.

Now, Mr./Miss/Mrs Anonymous/Anengiyefa, please stop sulking and vote for me jare. When you’re done voting, start loving my blog, too. It can’t hurt.

    GBAM!

Nne Vera thank you very much.

@Anonymous Anengiyfa fan, hope no madness is worrying you? Of course not everyone who is nominated gets picked, the people with the most nominations get listed. Do you understand how the voting works at all?

    @ “I know he really doesn’t give a s**t about these awards,”
Then why are you here embarrassing yourself on his behalf?

There is always next year. If you love his blog so much then next time make sure you campaign for him to the fullest, inugo? Don’t leave it to just your vote. Involve your friends, bribe your neighbors, tell your family, etc.

I am sorry….but I think this blog awards thing is a huge joke. I do agree with Anon and Anengiyefa. Those who nominated and the most of the blogs who get nominated are all in the same club (Committee of friends) so to speak. To be honest most people who vote have not even read any of these blogs.

I still say this blog awards thing is a sad joke. Half of those nominated have the most boring blogs ever… *YAWN*
