Dilemma

As I mentioned in my last entry, it’s a shame that we did not have enough Health and Fitness blogs to have five nominees in that category.

However, in the last few days I have been contacted by a sports blogger who was wondering why there wasn’t a category for this type of blog, and this week we have also received a number of comments from people supporting a fitness blog that had not been nominated.

My first inclination was to say that since the 2010 Nigerian Blog Awards have begun, it is too late to add new categories or nominees to the process. However, this awards about the entire community, so we’d like to let you decide.

Since 30 categories is plenty, the option of creating a separate Best Sports Blog category is not one that will be considered at this time. With that in mind, please weigh in below:

    You've taking the first step in the right direction by throwing the decision back to the community.

    Let the community judge, that way, you will remain an unbiased umpire. Nobody will claim they were disfranchised. Opening the nomination for that category for extra 1 or 2 days if the community so decide via vote won't hurt the total program either.

    So, it is left for everyone to express their views by voting.

    i think you should leave the health category as it is, and add a category for best sports blog under category B.

    Thanks for your comments. The problem with opening the voting for this category for a day or two is some people who found out about this site after the nominees have been announced might want the category that their blog would have qualified for to be reopened too. But hopefully the fact that this category did not have enough nominees will suffice as the reason why this category alone should be reopened.

    I appreciate your comment. Category B is more about the personality of the bloggers, so having a sports category wouldn't really work in my (very humble) opinion. These are the categories from last year to give you an indication of what I mean.

    Seeing as the category is short of 5, it does no harm to open it up for a few days..

    I don't think that anyone who missed the deadline for the other categories would have a problem with you doing this..
