Awwwww….Didnt win, but it was fun doing this. My congratulations to all who won especially to my friend and sister Myne Whitman who won in my category and also coasted home with the Blog of the Year Award.
However, i was hoping the organisers would state what each blog scored. Thats how an election result is announced. Just to give the bloggers involved an idea of what votes they were able to gather and perhaps give the process an added sense of transparency. These are my thoughts. I would like to know what i scored really.
Thanks and Thumbs up.

Wow!!! *definitely refusing to blush* this is such a pleasant surprise. ….am delighted.
However, whatever 'feat' we might ever seem to have achieved is never without the various exponents (in form of commenters in this case).
As such, not rethots but, to as many as have passed through the blog and have dared to invest their time in reading, commenting and more importantly, engaged in a responsive discourse.
….to you all, i say. We won.
June 7th, 2010 @ 7:21 am
A huge thank you to all those who voted for Black Looks in both categories – this is comes as a huge surprise to me and I am quite moved. Congrats also to all the other winners in all categories and also to all the Nigerian bloggers who work so hard to get the stories told. Nigeria is the ultimate winner here and we have shown the range of voices and topics we have as a community of bloggers.
Thanks also to the organisers of this award – you guys have done a great job
cheers

Congrats to my girl Myne, wow! Truly deserving, this is amazing and am happy for all the winners, even if my name didn't win, thanks again for nominating me twice. I am happy and content.
June 7th, 2010 @ 8:55 am
Thanks guys for voting… This was fun
June 7th, 2010 @ 10:05 am
I am short of words really but still I want to say a great big Thank you to everyone that voted for me. I really appreciate you all and the support all along in this blogging and writing journey. It has been awesome having the Naija Blogs community on my side, your comments, feedback and encouragement of my writing has made it all more than worthwhile. This is just another feather in our cap. I couldn't have done it without you all. Thanks again.
June 7th, 2010 @ 10:06 am
ego du jour? pfft! LOL. Aaand, no I'm not hating!
June 7th, 2010 @ 10:36 am
Congrats to all the winners and well done to the people who put these awards together. It's been great to discover so many new and hidden Nigerian blogs.
But something doesn't seem right to me. I'm not hating, but I find it just a bit too convenient that Myne Whitman won in all her nominated categories. I can think of several other important blogs that are a lot more deserving of the Nigerian Blog of the Year award. Myne's blog is just there, nothing too special about it.
I know it might be too late for this year but can we please redefine what qualifies to be the Nigerian Blog of the Year? It shouldn't just be a case of anybody and everybody. Myne's blog is written by her alone so how did it win best group blog? Bella Naija is more of a fashion and events blog than a Beauty blog – but it won that category too? I think there should be a different method of nominating and voting in these awards next year, otherwise it's just a pointless joke.
June 7th, 2010 @ 11:10 am
My warmest congratulations to all winners. You guys truly rock. Keep doing what you do!
June 7th, 2010 @ 11:49 am
@Shalewa
PLEASE!! DON'T HATE.
June 7th, 2010 @ 11:56 am
Congratulations to all the winners and all the wonderful nominees. Kudos to the organizers too for all your hard work in this undoubtedly fun event. It couldn't have been easy.
Thank you KTravulans for the love and the nominations. The travelogue continues shortly.
June 7th, 2010 @ 11:58 am
LOL. See me see trouble oh! Bia Shandalikwa if I come there and beat you on the head you will see…
@Shalewa, what you are doing is like attacking the MTV movie awards for not being like the Oscars. This is all about the popular vote. There is no "academy" to "judge". Whoever manages to convince enough people to nominate and vote for them will win. Its that simple.
June 7th, 2010 @ 2:04 pm
Congratulations to all the winners, both those i voted for and those i didn't vote for :D
Also special mention to the organisers, You guys did a GREAT job.
To the naysayers, even I do not agree with the winners in all the categories, but this was a very widely publicized 'event' and it was up to the nominees to canvas for votes via any medium of choice and even though some people didn't do much canvasing, their hard work and consistency as dedicated bloggers earned them the awards.
This was done as freely and fairly as possible.
Congratulations to everybody.
June 7th, 2010 @ 2:07 pm
@shalewa
apparently you havent been following mynes blog for the past one year
her blog mynewhitman write
started the cupidrisk series, which was a collaborative story written by blogsville citizens she just recently moved the stories to the cupidriskblog (www.cupidsrisk.blogspot.com)
thats why most people nominated her for the best group
and she practically put up her whole novel (a heart to mend) while she was writing it for reviews and correction
i ran to her blog everyday for the next installment that blog was like a magazine to me everyday there was always something to read
she writes exceedingly good poems too
mynewhitmans blog has been exceptional this year
i didnt follow her last year but in the past 12months she has done much more than some have achieved in 5years
kudos myne
you totally deserve it
June 7th, 2010 @ 2:35 pm
thanks to all those who voted for me
@shalewa:
its obvious that you have not been following myne whiteman;s blog ever, do you know how many people wrote stories for her blog.i personally did and that is why i voted for it as the best collaborative blog cos it was really exceptional.
June 7th, 2010 @ 5:28 pm
Congrats to all the winners! Especially Ego Du Jour! I'm just really excited to have found all these Nigerian blogs. They're all so unique and I'm discovering some hilarious content, some gorgeous pics (Tunji Sarumi, those pictures are fabulous!) and some very insightful blogs. So thanks for giving us this great list!
June 7th, 2010 @ 5:28 pm
congrats to all the winners especially Myne who swept it all!
now i shall go and console myself in Baroka's arms!
June 7th, 2010 @ 9:49 pm
God is good
June 7th, 2010 @ 10:21 pm
I don't know what to say – but I appreciate y'all. Many thanks to GnG and the organising committee.
Thanks once again for voting 9jagunners.blogspot.com as the best blog in the Sports category.
June 8th, 2010 @ 1:34 am
Congrats to every winner and to GNG, great job in organising it….
June 8th, 2010 @ 1:45 am
Hey folks. My internet has gone bonkers on me.
But to be fair, I think we should ask the nominees instead – and not just everyone – if they want to see their scores and how they fared against the others, or not. Open, not secret, ballot this time. A show of hands, maybe. I'm sure that most of us would like to see how we fared. Why throw it open to those who really had nothing at stake there?
Like Sylva, I want to see the numerical results. Who else wants this? There's nothing to hide there. There's nothing special to necessitate the secrecy. Let's make it open and give everyone a chance to see. After all, the voting was not done by a committee like the Academy Awards but folks like us who gave their time and efforts. If only just for the records, I think we should display the results, with numbers.
Those are my thoughts on the process so far. I look forward to other contributions.
Cheers everyone.

@Baroka
So that's how it is eh? You use your voters then throw them by the wayside like dirty rags? According to your high and mighty self, They "had nothing at stake." A few days ago you were groveling at our feet for votes, but now you feel the need to treat us like peasant proletariat and drown out our voices.
@organizers
I am one of those who felt the poll to show numbers was ill-conceived in the first place and I am glad we are in the majority. Do not go the way of Baroka the tyrannical dictator and quench the voice of the majority.
June 8th, 2010 @ 6:02 am
plix plix @Ngozi and co, its not that serious jor, u dont need to bite off the head of the poor dude. Everyone is just voicing their opinions, and I'm sure baroka didnt mean it like that.
@shalewa and @shandalikwa, I dont even have words. not everyone is going to be happy about stuff like this, but I believe if we are old enough to use a computer, we are all mature (actually scratch that, cos my 4 year old nephew does). ok, thats not the point.
to be honest, I dont mind seeing a numerical poll, if its not too much work on the organizers' part.
i clearly have too much time on my hands
-The instigator
June 8th, 2010 @ 6:51 am
Where are all these people coming from demanding a show of the numbers? That's what the poll was for. You should make yourself heard with your vote.
We should not break with tradition and start showing numbers.
My 2cents.
June 8th, 2010 @ 8:29 am
Why vote again on whether to announce the result of an election?
Just imagine voting for your proper politicians, and after the election, they hand you a winner and ask you to vote again on releasing the counts. Haba, that is a no brainer!
You ought to make this as transparent as possible, please.
June 8th, 2010 @ 8:38 am
@Ngozi, and the organisers- what harm could there possibly be in showing the numbers?
@Philip – what tradition? Even Maurice Iwu told us the numbers leading to the conclusion of the polls! Take a cue…
June 8th, 2010 @ 9:36 am
@Yemi:You are crying over spilled milk. This is a democracy and the voters have said they don't want to see the numbers.
@philip:I tire o. I wonder when blogsville awards started showing numbers.
June 8th, 2010 @ 9:55 am
There never should have been a poll asking to reveal the numbers. Bad idea. Nigerians will never be satisfied with anything. What's the big deal sef? Abi dem dey share money to the winners? This awards is meant to bring us closer as a community and it's done in the spirit of fun. It's not politics abeg. So some of you (who shall remain nameless but i'm sure you know urselves) should go and find somewhere and sit down.
June 8th, 2010 @ 10:38 am
I dunno why some of you are bringing INEC into this. What kind of madness is that? Why not just come out and say that all the winners conspired to rig the elections and it was all for the glory of a website badge.
I can't believe that after the hard work GNG put into organizing this and pulling it off some people here are trying to make this an "issue". What a bunch of sore losers. I dont even know if the people complaining are actually bloggers or wannabe political activists. Stop the madness. The Group B categories are coming up, why not try and win one of those so that we can all rest. Nonsense.
June 9th, 2010 @ 4:28 am
Thanks for the initiative but I think there's something you must correct for future editions. There is no justification for putting Health and Sports in the same category as there could never be a parameter to judge. Both fields are mutually exclusive. I hope you will put this into consideration.
June 9th, 2010 @ 12:19 pm
Yay! Congrats to all the winners (myself included). Just have to say that this was loads of fun! Thanks to everyone who nominated and voted for my blogs. I am very appreciative.
Can't wait for Category B nominations.
June 10th, 2010 @ 12:51 am

Nice one,
I really must commend the organisers of this project, I would like for you to evaluate other blogs that did not emerge winners so that they can be further worked up. What are the criteria for judegement of these blogs? Maybe it should be listed as well. Is it creativity, is it content, is it organisation of thoughts etc.
I just learnt about blogging and it's fun, I have a new blog and I am not sure how it can be graded. Please let me know what you think of this blog http://fastestwaytolosebelly.blogspot.com/
